Governance

The Halifax Community investment fund is a volunteer, non-profit board run society. The HCIF Society is formally registered with the Government of Nova Scotia Registry of Joint Stock Companies (Registry ID 3226762).

The society was granted charitable status in 2012.

The purpose of the society is to operate and encourage educational, artistic, social, economic and other activities, the object of which is the betterment of the community and the residents of the area bounded by the properties on Cogswell, North Park, Agricola, North Streets and Halifax Harbour in Halifax Regional Municipality. Activities associated with the purpose to date have been focused on providing bursaries for post high school education to eligible residents of the North End. These activities are carried out by members of the board of directors.
